Misuari arrest warrant sent to CIDG, NBI, PNP


An arrest warrant for Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founding chairman Nur Misuari has been sent to law enforcement agencies for implementation following the Sandiganbayan's findings of probable cause in his graft and malversation charges.

"It is confirmed that  Warrant Of Arrest dated August 31, 2017 already delivered for its service on accused Misuari," Third Division Clerk of Court Atty. Dennis Pulma said in a text message on Wednesday.

Pulma said the warrant was sent to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the National Bureau of Investigation, the Philippine National Police, and the South Cotabato Police.

The Sandiganbbayan on Tuesday ordered the arrest of Misuari in connection with the alleged anomalous procurement of educational materials during his term as governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao from 2000 to 2001. 

Misuari was charged by the Ombudsman with three counts each of graft and malversation through falsification for allegedly conspiring with his co-accused in giving "unwarranted benefits, advantage and privilege" to three private companies.

Ombudsman investigators futher found that "no such materials were delivered" by MBJ Learning Tools, CPR Publishing, and White Orchids Printing and Publishing House.

In its resolution, the Sandiganbayan, however, ordered the prosecution to "present additional evidence" to establish the offense of Misuari in one count each of graft and malversation.

A P460,000 bail is recommended for Misuari to enjoy provisional liberty. A P200,000 cash bond is required for the two counts of malversation, while P30,000 each for the two graft cases. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/KBK/KVD, GMA News
