Senate orders arrest of Faeldon

The Senate has issued an arrest order against former Bureau of Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon, according to a report on dzBB Friday.

The arrest order was signed Thursday night by Senate President Koko Pimentel.

According to Nimfa Ravelo's report, personnel of the Senate sergeant-at-arms were already in the area of Faeldon's residence in Taytay, Rizal before 9 a.m.

The former BOC official has a scheduled press conference at his residence at 10 a.m. Friday.

Faeldon was cited in contempt by the Senate blue ribbon committee on Thursday for failing to respond to the panel's subpoena.

The committee met on Thursday to continue its hearing on the P6.4-billion shabu shipment from China which slipped past BOC inspection in May. —KG/KVD, GMA News
