Duterte to soldiers, cops: Challenge Trillanes to duel if he badgers you in Senate

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday told the country's armed forces to challenge Senator Antonio Trillanes to a duel if he badgered them during a Senate inquiry.

The commander-in -chief even ordered the uniformed officers and personnel to stand up to Trillanes and not let his harshest critic to bully them.

Duterte made the remarks after Trillanes grilled his son Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Dutete and son-in-law Attorney Manases Carpio for their alleged role in the P6.4-billion shabu shipment that slipped past customs in May.

Trillanes even linked Paolo, or Pulong, to the Chinese triad syndicate.

“‘Pag ganoon, tindigan ninyo. Sabihin mo, ‘P— ina ka. Lumabas ka diyan. Draw tayo.’ Hambugero. Talawan man na. Ay sus, ako ang maka-engkwentro ana... Bakit pala ako nagadala ng baril? Walay lisensiya ni ah. Di man ka kailangan ug lisensya para mupatay ug tawo [If that happens, stand up to him. Tell him, 'You're a son of b–. Come out and let's draw [guns]. He's arrogant. He's a coward. If I encounter him... Why am I bringing a gun? It doesn't have a license. You don't need a license to kill a person],” Duterte said, even showing what appeared to be a gun on his side.

"Ako, hindi ako naghahamon, pero pangutan-a lang pila ka tao akong gi... Idungag tika [I'm not challenging anyone, but just ask them how many people I... I'll add you]," he added.

Duterte also told the security forces not to let Trillanes talk down on them.

“Para hindi kawawa ang militar na kaya-kayahon lang nila. Huwag kayong pumayag na sigawan kayo. ‘Yang style ni Trillanes, huwag kayo pumayag niyan. Tindigan mo. Sabihin mo ako ang nag-utos sa’yo,” Duterte said.

Duterte even recalled the time when Trillanes questioned late Defense Secretary Angelo Reyes during a Senate hearing.

“Eh kagaya ni Angie Reyes, sinabi niya, ‘Your Honor, I would just like to protect my integrity.’ O,sinabi ng walang hiyang p— ina, ‘No, no. Shut up.’ Military iyan ah. PMA-er. ‘You do not [have] dignity,’” Duterte said.

Two weeks after his exchange with Trillanes, Reyes committed suicide. —NB, GMA News
