Duterte hits Trillanes for going after son Paolo

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday lashed out at Senator Antonio Trillanes IV after his son Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and his son-in-law lawyer Manases Carpio, attended the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee on the P6.4 billion shabu shipment at the Bureau of Customs.

Duterte during his speech at the 17th founding anniversary of Digos City, Davao del Sur said Trillanes had been targeting Paolo even during the elections.

“Hangtod karon nangita lang gihapon ug basura adto na pud sa akong anak. Elekyon, ginainitan gyud na niya si Pulong. Giignan lang nako na tagai lang ko sa tawo na nihatag kay Pulong. Period. And I will step down as President. Wala man nay problema sa ako [Until now, he’s still looking for garbage, this time about my son. He’s been trying to prey on Pulong. I told you, just present to me the person who gave money to Pulong. Period. And I will step down as President. I have no problems with that],” Duterte said.

Trillanes in a Senate inquiry on Thursday claimed that intelligence information he received from a foreign government had it that Paolo was a member of the Chinese triad that supposedly made the Philippines a transshipment point of illegal drugs after he became part of the syndicate.

He challenged Paolo to show a tattoo that would supposedly indicate his membership in the triad.

Paolo refused.

Trillanes also presented before the Senate information of Paolo and Carpio's millions of pesos in bank accounts.

Both Duterte's son and son-in-law turned down Trillanes' dare for them to sign a bank waiver that would allow scrutiny of their known bank accounts for ill-gotten wealth. —NB, GMA News
