Trillanes on Mocha Uson: I couldn’t care less if she resigns or not

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Wednesday shrugged off Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson's statement that she will resign if she loses the libel case that the senator plans to file against her.

“While I am fully aware that Sec. [Vitaliano] Aguirre's minions at the DOJ would eventually exonerate her, in the interest of justice, I would file the libel case, anyway," Trillanes said in a text message.

"I really couldn't care less whether she resigns or not,” he added.

On Monday, Trillanes said he plans to file libel charges against Uson, radio commentator Erwin Tulfo, and Ben Tesiorna, the owner of a social media site allegedly propagating fake news.

Tesiorna is supposedly behind the Davao Breaking News Facebook page, one of the sites which published alleged proof that Trillanes had offshore accounts. Trillanes said Tulfo and Uson also shared the alleged accounts on their pages.

“Kakasuhan ko sila ng libel. Hindi na pe-pwede yung fake news. The era of fake news is over. Itong Duterte administration, nanalo kayo sa fake news. Pero ngayon, hindi na pwede ‘yun,” Trillanes said.

“Hahabulin at hahabulin ko kayo every time,” he said.

Trillanes said that based on “basic” research, he found out that not only were the bank accounts “bogus,” but the banks themselves.

In response, Uson said she will resign from the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) if she loses the libel case. If she wins, however, she said Trillanes should resign as senator.

“Ituloy mo ang kaso, hinahamon kita, at kung mananalo ka, magre-resign ako. Ngunit kung matalo ka, ikaw ang mag-resign," Uson said in a Facebook video. — BM, GMA News
