Jinggoy camp posts bail for ex-senator’s temporary freedom


Lawyers of the camp of detained former Senator Jinggoy Estrada paid the P1.3-million bail bond on Saturday morning at the Sandiganbayan for his temporary freedom.

Led by lawyer Alexis Abastillas-Suarez, they arrived at the Sandiganbayan shortly before 9 a.m. to pay the bail bond at the the 5th Division cashier.

Payment in cash was done at about 10 a.m.

Earlier Suarez said that  P1.3-million bail bond is broken down into P1, 000,000 for the plunder case, and  P330,000 for the 11 counts ng graft.

From Sandiganbayan, Estrada's team will proceed to the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame to fetch Estrada and accompany him back the Sandiganbayan for his formal release.

Estrada is facing plunder and graft charges in connection to the alleged misuse of his Priority Development Assistance Fund allocation.

Earlier Atty. Suarez told GMA News Online that after his release, Estrada will have an "opportunity to go around the country to thank his constituents."  —LBG, GMA News
