Honeylet gets emotional as she defends Duterte from Trillanes, other critics

President Rodrigo Duterte's partner Honeylet Avanceña became emotional when she defended the Chief Executive from Senator Antonio Trillanes' tirades that started as early as a week before the 2016 elections.

Trillanes has linked Duterte to extrajudicial killings and corruption.

"Trillanes has been hitting us since a week before election... Pero bakit buhay pa siya? Diba? Wala namang nangyayari," Avanceña said in a speech during the launching of a rehabilitation program for drug dependents in Camp Crame.

"So it's not true that he's that kind of person... You can see the goodness in his heart," a teary-eyed Avanceña said in her speech.

Trillanes has been a staunch critic of Duterte, accusing the latter and his family of having multi-billion peso bank accounts.

In the same speech, Avanceña also defended Duterte and his violent war against illegal drugs.

"He (Duterte) will never instruct PNP to kill criminals. Kilala ko siya," she said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/NB, GMA News
