Duterte: Shoot me if my savings exceed P40-M

President Rodrigo Duterte is ready to be shot at if it is proven that his lifetime savings exceed P40 million.

In his sixth return to Marawi City, Duterte insisted that his wealth could not be more than P40 million.

“I promise you now, in front of the soldiers and everybody… Sinasabi ko sa inyo: You can shoot me if it exceeds P40 million. Lifetime na iyang savings ko. Hindi sosobra diyan. Sigurado ako,” he said.

The statement came after the Office of the Ombudsman announced that it started its probe on Duterte family’s wealth. Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales has recused herself from the case, and authorized Overall Deputy Ombudsman Arthur Carandang to proceed.

But Duterte said the Ombudsman obtained details of his bank account illegally. He renewed his call for Morales and Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno to resign along with him.

“Pero gusto ko, para mawala itong dalawa, magsabay sila sa akin. Then, we will have a better country, maybe. Kung ayaw nila ako, iyong yellow, eh ‘di huwag. Sige. Hinto natin ang gulo, pero resign tayo, para ang Pilipinas, makapaghanap ng bagong leader,” he said.

“That is my challenge to everybody in government. Sino pa ang gustong magpakalinis diyan? Sabay tayo, buksan natin lahat ang libro para walang masabi ang tao at malaman ng Pilipino kung sino ‘yung magnanakaw at kung sino ang hindi. Simple as that,” he added. —JST, GMA News
