Trillanes denies having a mistress at AMLC, tells Duterte to stick to issue of bank accounts

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Wednesday denied President Rodrigo Duterte’s claim that he had a mistress at the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC).

“I categorically deny itong huling imbentong storya ni Duterte. Nakakalungkot lang na meron pang nadadamay na ibang tao. In this case, si Attorney Julia Bacay-Abad na kilala bilang isang disente at pamilyadong tao na naging propesyunal sa kanyang paglingkod bilang Executive Director ng AMLC,” Trillanes said in a statement.

“Mr. Duterte, huwag mong daanin sa kabastusan ang pag iwas mo sa tunay na isyu ng bilyun-bilyong pera mo sa bangko,” he added.

Duterte claimed Trillanes’ supposed mistress was surnamed Abad and was the one who supplied Trillanes with his bank records.

“Ang lumabas doon, nagpindot, nagbukas ng account ko binigay kay Trillanes si Abad...Abad, iyong babae na nasa AMLC. She is the mistress of Trillanes. I don’t know what’s her name, basta siya iyan. Maganda ba siya?” Duterte said.

Abad resigned from the AMLC last January.

Duterte’s statements came after Solicitor General Jose Calida said he received a letter from AMLC saying it was not the source of any information or evidence that the Ombudsman has on the alleged bank accounts of Duterte.

Trillanes has repeatedly claimed Duterte had bank transactions amounting to P2.2 billion from September 2006 to December 2015.

On Tuesday, the senator reiterated his challenge for Duterte to sign bank secrecy waivers. —NB, GMA News
