Hearing on Sereno impeachment scheduled next month

The next hearing on the impeachment complaint filed against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno will be held next month, the House of Representatives Committee on Justice said Sunday.

According to a report on GMA News' "News TV Live," House Committee on Justice Chairperson Representative Reynaldo V. Umali said the hearing will be conducted after the House's "Halloween break."

The Congress will still meet this week, then resume on November 13.

To recall, the Committee on Justice on September 13 found the impeachment complaint filed by defeated senatorial candidate and Duterte Youth lawyer Lorenzo "Larry" G. Gadon sufficient in form and substance.

Gadon accused Sereno of committing acts such as culpable violation of the Constitution, corruption, and other high crimes and betrayal of public trust. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
