Lorraine Badoy appointed to PCOO, DSWD OIC says

Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistant Secretary Lorraine Badoy has been appointed to the Presidential Communications Operations Office, DSWD officer-in-charge Undersecretary Emmanuel Leyco has confirmed.

"Assistant Secretary Badoy has informed me as OIC-Secretary at DSWD of this development earlier and is now in the process of completing and turning over her responsibilities which is expected to last until the end of the month," Leyco said in a text message.

"I thank Asec Badoy for her contributions to DSWD and I am confident that she will be able to bring her  effectiveness as a communicator to her new assignment as Undersecretary at PCOO," he added.

Asked about Leyco's statement, PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar said, "We will wait for official appointment paper."

Badoy has been tagged in Facebook posts congratulating her on the appointment as PCOO undersecretary for new media and spokesperson.

Badoy took oath as DSWD assistant secretary in March, after she was appointed to the post in February.

Badoy, a staunch Duterte online supporter, is the daughter of former Associate Justice Anacleto Badoy Jr., who chaired the Sandiganbayan Third Division which heard the plunder case of former President and incumbent Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada over gambling money.

In March, former DSWD Secretary Corazon "Dinky" Soliman filed a complaint against Badoy over the latter's social media posts using a language "unbecoming of civil servant."

Badoy is a dermatologist by profession.

Aside from Badoy, Duterte earlier appointed another online supporter, blogger Mocha Uson as PCOO assistant secretary. —NB, GMA News
