Final end of Marawi war can be declared Sunday —Galvez

Marawi City will be declared totally free from armed clashes on Sunday, as government troops on Saturday took aim at only three buildings where the few remaining pro-ISIS terrorists are hiding, but still resisting.

DzBB's Binjie Liwanag reporting from Marawi City quoted Western Mindanao Command's Lieutenant General Ernesto Galvez Jr. as saying that by Sunday armed clashes will end and guns totally silent.

Galvez said that the military and police operations in the war-ravaged city are now focused only on a small area of enemy position, more or less three buildings, adding that remaining terrorists are still holding three to four male hostages.

But, Galvez expressed confidence that Marawi will be declared totally free from the terrorist-initiated war that will finally end on its 152nd day on Sunday. —LBG, GMA News
