‘Terrorism is everywhere’: Duterte warns public to be prepared ‘for any eventuality’

President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday called on Filipinos to be prepared in the event of terrorism just days after he declared Marawi City free from the ISIS-inspired Maute group.

In his speech during the celebration of the 38th MassKara Festival in Bacolod City, Duterte said that "problems never cease to visit planet Earth."

"Hindi lang... It is not only sa Philippines. But in the coming days, with the siege that happened in Marawi, I'm not trying to scare you, but let's just be prepared for any eventuality. Terrorism is everywhere," Duterte said.

"No nation has escaped from the clutches of the evil of the ISIS. It's an ideology that is dedicated to just kill human beings and destroy the places whatever... of what kind, heritage and all... we do not know..." Duterte added.

The President declared Marawi's liberation after top terror leaders Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute were killed.

Military operations are ongoing to clear one building in the main battle area where 30 members of the Maute group are still holed up.
