Duterte taps Francisco Duque to return as DOH secretary

President Rodrigo Duterte has tapped a former secretary, Francisco Duque III, to head the Department of Health anew as its secretary.

Duque's appointment paper was signed on Thursday. Malacañang released the document to the media on the same day.

Duque first served as health secretary under the Arroyo administration between June 2005 to January 2010, when he was appointed to chair the Civil Service commission.

Before his appointment by Duterte to the DOH, Duque was named chairman of the Government Service Insurance System.

He replaced former Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial who was rejected by the Commission on Appointments weeks ago. —NB, GMA News
