DOWN 17 POINTS FROM MARCH

35% of Pinoys expect Duterte will fulfill all or most of his promises — SWS

The number of Filipinos who believe that President Rodrigo Duterte can meet his promises has gone down, the latest Social Weather Stations survey showed Sunday.

The results of the Third Quarter 2017 survey, conducted on September 23 to September 27 among 1,500 respondents nationwide, said that 35% of Filipinos are optimistic that Duterte will deliver on his promises.

This is a 17-point drop from 52% of respondents who said the same in March.

The 35 percent consists of 8% of respondents who believe Duterte can fulfill "all or nearly all" or his promises, and 27% who said he can fulfill "most" of them.

Fifty-seven percent of respondents, on the other hand, said that "a few" of his promises will happen, while 6% said that "none or almost none" will be fulfilled by Duterte.

The respondents were asked the question: "Sa inyong palagay, ilan sa mga pangako ni Pang. Rody Duterte ang posibleng matutupad? [LAHAT O HALOS LAHAT SA MGA PANGAKO, KARAMIHAN SA MGA PANGAKO, MGA ILAN SA MGA PANGAKO, HALOS WALA O WALA SA MGA PANGAKO]."

Earlier results

In March 2017, 52% of respondents expected all or most of Duterte's promises would be fulfilled (17% all or nearly all of his promises; 35% most of his promises).

In June 2016, 63% expected Duterte to "fulfill most, if not all, of his promises," while it was 56% in September 2016.

In the current poll, Duterte's net satisfaction rating (% satisfied minus % dissatisfied) was excellent among those who believe he can fulfill "all or nearly all" or "most" of his promises (+78 and +73 respectively).

Decline 'in all areas'

The SWS said that the 17-point decline in the national proportion of those who expect Duterte will fulfill "all or nearly all" of his promises was due to the "double-digit declines in all areas."

The expectation fell by 33 points in Mindanao (42% from 75% in March).

In Balance Luzon, it decreased by 11 points (34% from 45% in March).

In Metro Manila it dropped 13 points (32% from 45% in March).

It also fell in Visayas by 18 points (31% from 49% in March).

It fell by 20 points in rural areas (35% from 55%) and 14 points in urban areas (35% from 49%).

It fell by 7 points in class ABC (42% from 49%); 17 points in class D (36% from 53%) and 23 points in class E (29% from 51%).

It fell by 16 points among men (36% from 52%) and 19 points among women (34% from 59%).

It fell by 8 points among 25- to 34-year-olds (44% from 52%); 13 points among 18- to 24-year-olds (41% from 54%); 16 points among 35- to 44-year-olds (34% from 50%); 26 points among 45- to 54-year-olds (32% from 57%); and 26 points among 55-year-olds and above (29% from 51%).

Expectation that Duterte can fulfill most, if not all, of his promises fell by 28 points among college graduates (41% from 69%); 15 points among high school graduates (37% from 52%); 13 points among elementary school graduates (34% from 47%) and 26 points among non-elementary graduates (27% from 53%).
