Duterte admits being offended by Santiago’s remarks on mega drug rehab

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday admitted that he was offended when former Dangerous Drugs Board chairperson Dionisio Santiago said the mega-drug rehabilitation center was a "miscalculation."

"He could have asked me for an audience and tell me about it," Duterte said in his pre-departure briefing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

He is off to Vietnam to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.

On Tuesday, Santiago tendered his irrevocable resignation following his controversial statement.

Santiago, a former military chief, later admitted he was hurt that Duterte ordered Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea to tell him to vacate his post. — RSJ, GMA News
