Laos PDR PM arrives in Clark for 31st ASEAN Summit

Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) Prime Minister Thoungloun Sisoulith on Sunday morning arrived at the Clark International Airport in Pampanga for the 31st Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Leaders' Summit and Related Meetings.

The plane carrying Sisoulith arrived at around 10:37 a.m. He was welcomed by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi and other government officials.

President Rodrigo Duterte had visited Laos in September 2016 to attend the ASEAN Summit. It was his first international trip as a president.

On May 6, 2008, a memorandum of understanding between the Philippines and Lao PDR was signed which established the Philippines-Lao PDR Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC).

The Philippines and Lao PDR have also signed an agreement to bolster cooperation in higher education and professional training between the two countries. —ALG, GMA News
