PNP Chief Bato, NCRPO Dir. Albayalde on Christmas duty, checks on police, Rizal Park

While most of the country celebrated noche buena on Monday midnight, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa and National Capital Region Police Office Director Oscar Albayalde spent it carrying out their Christmas duty.

In a picture tweeted out by Super Radyo dzBB reporter James Agustin, dela Rosa and Albayalde were seen with reporters near the MRT-3 Taft Station while they carried out inspections.

According to another tweet by Agustin, Dela Rosa and Albayalde inspected several police stations around Pasay, Makati, Manila, Rizal Park, and EDSA Rotonda.

Prior to their inspection, Manila SWAT police guarded the Quiapo Church in Manila while Catholics attended Misa de Gallo at 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Unfortunately, the vigilance of police could not stop a home burglary and an accident in Manila and Pasay.

Dela Rosa confirmed in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB on Sunday that they will not tape the gun muzzles of their personnel this year once again, a practice carried out last year to show the discipline of the police.

In the same interview, the police chief also instructed police personnel to force their way in residences and establishments without a search warrant where gunfire is heard during the New Year celebrations. —Rie Takumi/KG, GMA News
