No mercy for cops who’ll indiscriminately fire guns during the holidays —NCRPO chief

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde said Thursday that police officers who will indiscriminately fire their guns will be shown no mercy and dismissed from service.

Albayalde said this was the instruction given to them by Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa in connection with the New Year revelry.

“No mercy sa pulis na mahuling nag-indiscriminate firing, lalo na ang rason nila ay lasing sila,” he said in a press briefing.

The two police officers earlier arrested for indiscriminate firing have been relieved from post and disarmed, Albayalde said, adding the two are "under restrictive custody."

"Ang direktiba ay i-dismiss sila sa serbisyo," he said.

One of those arrested was Police Officer 1 Arnold Gabriel Sabillo, assigned at Montalban Police Station. he was nabbed when a concerned citizen reported an indiscriminate firing incident at Sgt. De Leon Street, HBO compound, Barangay Santolan, Pasig City on December 24.

Recovered from his possession was a 9 mm Beretta with 11 live ammunition while recovered from the scene were three fired cartridge cases.

Police Officer 1 Marbin Jay Pagulayan, assigned at Malate Police Station, was arrested around 2 a.m. on December 25 at Quirino corner Pacheco streets in Tondo, Manila.

Initial investigation showed Pagulayan was having a drinking spree when two of his companions had a heated argument. The police officer tried to pacify the two and fired his gun downward. He was arrested by responding members of Raxabago Police Station. —KBK, GMA News
