Koko thanks public for ‘good’ satisfaction ratings

Senate President Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III on Thursday expressed gratitude for the positive trust rating he received for his leadership of the upper house of Congress.

Poll taker Social Weather Stations' fourth quarter survey results shows Pimentel with a "good" satisfaction rating of +49, three points higher than his previous rating.

“I am grateful for the continued confidence shown in me by the Filipino people. My wish is that my colleagues in the Senate and I can keep their trust in 2018 as we work harder to improve the quality of life for all,” Pimentel said in a statement.

During the conduct of the survey from December 8 to 16, the Senate ratified the 2018 national budget and the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion bill, and approved the joint resolution for the increase of base pay for military and uniformed personnel.

Pimentel vowed that when they resume session next year, the Senate will work on other priority legislations of the Duterte administration.

“Come January 2018, we will work on the Anti-Terrorism Law, a law creating the National ID system, a law providing Universal Health Care, the Bangsamoro Basic Law, and a measure that would convene Congress as a Constitutional Assembly and pave the way for the shift to Federalism," he said.

In the same survey results, President Rodrigo Duterte's net satisfaction ratings rose 10 points to a "very good" mark.  — BM, GMA News
