MORE 'FACELESS' MONEY

Ninoy, Cory faces missing on P500 bill

After photos of the "faceless" P100 bills went viral, several bills with missing details have also surfaced on social media, GMA News' Sandra Aguinaldo reported on 24 Oras said Friday.

The report said the faces of the late Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. and his wife, the late President Corazon "Cory" Aquino, were noticeably missing from a P500 bill dispensed by an automated teller machine (ATM).

Robin Villapando Fetalvo, who withdrew the money in September, said he didn't notice the misprinted P500 bill among his salary money until his wife pointed it out.

Aside from the faces of the Aquino couple, the bill was also missing the names and signatures of President Rodrigo Duterte and former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr.

The letters making up the "Republika ng Pilipinas" were also blurry.

Fetalvo decided to keep the bill as suggested by his workmates.

"'Yung office-mates ko sabi sa akin, 'Itago mo na lang. Puwede 'yang collectors' item." Puwede ring ibenta," he said.

Meanwhile, late President Sergio Osmeña Sr. was also missing on a P50 bill shown on a photo posted  by YouScooper Ozius Dahc.

BSP Governor Nestor Espenilla Jr.  on Thursday said a malfunctioning machine had resulted in the printing of P100 bills that do not have the face of the late President Manuel Roxas. —Margaret Claire Layug/KBK, GMA News
