Analyst Heydarian’s take on possible future terrorist attacks in Mindanao

GMA resident analyst Richard Heydarian on Thursday said even if the Marawi siege had already ended, forces of the ISIS-inspired Maute group could still launch similar attacks in other urban areas in southern Philippines.

Heydarian's statement came on the heels of a fresh encounter over the weekend between government forces and alleged Maute members in Lanao del Sur.

In Iligan and Cotabato, four other supposed members of the terrorist group were arrested.

Heydarian also talked about the two possible candidates who could lead the terrorist group, following the deaths of leaders Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute. — MDM, GMA News
