Robredo files motion to withdraw any pending motions before PET

Vice President Leni Robredo has filed a motion to consider withdrawn any pending motions before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal which may delay ballot recount proceedings in the poll protest of former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.

Her lawyers Romulo Macalintal and Maria Bernadette Sardillo filed the motion on Thursday afternoon, according to a press statement from Robredo's office.

This, even as the Vice President maintained she has no pending motions before the Supreme Court, sitting as the PET, which may delay the recount proceedings.

"If there is any pending motion of the protestee which may delay the recount proceedings the same should be considered as withdrawn or abandoned," Macalintal said in the statement.

In Thursday's motion, Macalintal was the only signing party.

"Meanwhile, protestee asks that the Resolution of the Honorable Tribunal allowing her to secure the soft copies of the ballot images be enforced," the motion said.

"This motion is not intended for delay but dictated solely by the foregoing exigencies," it added.

Supposedly in response to Marcos' challenge to withdraw all their pending motions, Robredo's version of the document was filed after Marcos or his lawyers failed to show up at a supposed signing of a "joint motion" of the two parties on Wednesday morning.

Marcos, however, had earlier signed a "joint manifestation" to a similar effect, but Macalintal on Wednesday said the defeated vice presidential candidate signed the "wrong pleading," as the court may only supposedly take note of such a document.
