Duterte orders PDEA to bare names of barangay officials included in narco list

President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to reveal the names of barangay officials included in the narco list or the list of those allegedly involved in the illegal drugs trade.

PDEA spokesman Derrick Carreon confirmed this to GMA News Online in a phone interview on Wednesday.

Carreon said there are 211 barangay officials on the list.

He added that they would still coordinate the matter with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

In a separate text message, PDEA director general Aaron Aquino said the list will be released "within the week."

Last month, PDEA director general Aaron Aquino said a total of 289 barangay officials are included in the narco list of the Chief Executive.

Of this number, 143 are barangay captains while 146 are members of the barangay council. —KG, GMA News
