SWS: Duterte’s net trust rating drops by 10 points, but still ‘very good’

President Rodrigo Duterte's net trust rating went down by 10 points in March compared to three months ago, based on the first quarter survey results from the Social Weather Stations.

The survey, conducted from March 23 to 27, found three out of four (76%) adult Filipinos with much trust, 14% undecided, and 10% with little trust in President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

This implies a net trust rating of +65 (% much trust minus % little trust, correctly rounded).

The SWS poll, however, clarified that the President's +65 percent net trust rating, though 10 points lower than the +75 percent in December 2017, was still considered "very good."

In its September 2017 survey, the SWS found Duterte to have also garnered a "very good" +60 percent net rating.

In the eight SWS surveys since June 2016, Duterte's net trust rating was excellent in six and very good in two surveys.

It was a moderate +16 percent when SWS first asked about it in December 2015, and stayed at moderate levels up to March 30 to April 2, 2016.

It went to a "good" +30 percent in April 18-20, 2016, and to a "moderate" +26 percent in May 1-3, 2016, just before the May 9, 2016 elections. It then rose to a personal record-high of an "excellent" +79 percent in June 24-27, 2016, just days before his inauguration in June 30, 2016.

The non-commissioner March 2018 Social Weather Survey was conducted from March 23 to 27, 2018 using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide. — MDM, GMA News
