DILG's DIÑO SAYS

Over 70 barangay execs to face suit for failure to set up BADAC

Over 70 barangay officials will face administrative complaints before the Office of the Ombudsman next week for their failure to organize the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC).

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary  for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño told Super Radyo dzBB that barangay chairpersons who have not submitted any BADAC report  will face charges before the Ombudsman.

"Magpa-file kami ng complaint sa susunod na linggo laban sa mga opisyales na hindi nag-submit ng BADAC ... nasa batas yan limang taon na ang nakalilipas. Dapat ginawa na nila yan," Diño said.

Moreover, he said that after filing the complaints, the DILG will release the list of barangay officials who have failed to organize the BADAC.

According to Diño, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency is also set to release to media on Monday the verified list of barangay officials linked to illegal drugs.

Last Thursday, director general Aaron Aquino said they are expecting more barangay officials to be included in the narco list as Malacañang has submitted more names last Wednesday night.

"May pinahabol pa ang Malacañang na listahan.  So I guess, itong 211 na ida-divulge ko ay baka madagdagan pa po," Aquino said in an interview on GMA News' Unang Balita.

Aquino said the list of 211 barangay officials allegedly involved in illegal drug trade have already been verified. —LBG, GMA News
