Frustrated homicide rap filed vs. suspects in stabbing of Jeron Teng, 2 others

A complaint was filed on Monday against the men who allegedly stabbed PBA cager Jeron Teng and two of his companions during an altercation in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City early Sunday morning.

Lawyer Howard Calleja, counsel for the victims, said the Philippine National Police (PNP) filed frustrated homicide complaint against the suspects.

Police earlier identified the suspects as Edmar Manalo and Willard Basili.

"Formally filed na ang complaint dito sa fiscal's office and then preliminary investigation proceeds," Calleja said in an interview, as tweeted by radio dzBB's Nimfa Ravelo. "Next hearing will be on June 11."

Calleja said since the preliminary investigation is still ongoing, they could still ask to include other respondents "or even increase or add whatever crimes or penalties we deem fit."

Meanwhile, Southern Police District head Chief Superintendent Tomas Apolinario said the suspects remain under the custody of the Taguig police after they opted to undergo preliminary investigation.

According to a report from the city's Police Community Precinct 7, Teng and companions Norbert Torres and Thomas Torres were walking near Early Night Club at the Fort Strip when a group of suspects called out to them.
A heated confrontation ensued, resulting in a brawl.
