Sara Duterte jokes about running for Vice President

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said she had yet to decide what post to run for in 2019 but allowed herself a quip about running for vice president.

Asked what position she was targeting, President Rodrigo Duterte's eldest daughter said, "None yet. It all depends on the foes, availability of funds, also on the winnability."

"Vice President? Joke only. Yeah, I'm open," she added when asked if she was open to run for any elective post.

The mid-term elections in 2019 will see candidates running for local positions and Congress.

The presidential and vice presidential polls won't be until 2022.

Sara said she had yet to decide whether to run for a local or a national position in the mid-term polls.

She said members of their family usually decided a month or two before the scheduled polls.

"I don't know yet. We will decide usually by tradition, one or two months before election, depending on the surveys, depending on the capacity to run a campaign," Sara said.

Sara faced the media after attending the hearing of the petition for registration of her political party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) Party as a regional political party at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Intramuros on Tuesday. —NB, GMA News
