2 Russian navy destroyers, sea tanker to visit Manila

Two Russian anti-submarine destroyers and a large sea tanker will arrive in Manila for a five-day goodwill visit from June 9 to June 14.

Naval Public Affairs Office director Captain Lued Lincuna said the Russian Navy vessels, Admiral Tributs and Admiral Vinogradov as well as sea tanker Pechenga will dock at Pier 15, South Harbor Manila on Saturday at around 7:30 a.m.

A welcome ceremony and port briefing, according to Lincuna, will be rendered upon the arrival of the Russian vessels following a customary meeting procedure with designated Philippine Navy vessels at the vicinity of Corregidor Island. t

Three Rusian Navy vessels, Admiral Panteleyev, Admiral Vinogradov and large sea tanker Boris Butoma have also paid a goodwill visit in Manila last October.

In April last year, Russian cruiser Varyag, a 600-foot Slava-class guided missile cruiser, along with sea tanker Pechenga also arrived in Manila for a four-day goodwill visit. —JST, GMA News
