Cabinet execs to tout gains of Duterte admin’s first 2 years

Cabinet officials will appear in a series of fora this month to report on the Duterte administration’s  achievements in its first two years, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Tuesday.

Organized by Malacañang, the two-week information campaign dubbed “Tatak ng Pagbabago” will hit the road starting July 6 until July 18, or five days before President Duterte'’s third State of the Nation Address before a joint session of Congress.

Roque said the fora would show what the policies and projects implemented so far by the government “mean for the future of every Filipino.”

The fora would be held at the the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

The forum on Friday will feature the Cabinet’s economic and infrastructure clusters, with Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III and Public Works Secretary Mark Villar expected to present the plans and accomplishments of their respective sectors.

The participatory governance cluster headed by Interior officer-in-charge Eduardo Año and the human development and poverty reduction cluster headed by Acting Social Welfare Secretary Virginia Orogo will be featured in the second forum on July 11.

Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana are leading the panelists in the July 18 forum. Cimatu heads the climate change adaptation and mitigation, and security cluster, while Lorenzana is in charge of the justice and peace.

An open forum with select secretaries of each cluster is part of the information campaign, Roque said.

Much has been accomplished in the first two years of the Duterte administration, Malacañang has said, citing the war on drugs, economic feats, and the improvement of government services.

The Palace acknowledged that “much more needs to be done.”

“It is a continuous work in progress in achieving and actualizing the promise of genuine and meaningful change for the Filipino people,” it said in a statement on Sunday. —VDS, GMA News
