Sotto says theatrics will not work in explaining federalism

Senate President Vicente Sotto III on Monday voiced disagreement over the use of theatrics in spreading awareness on federalism to the public.

In a tweet, Sotto said "[T]heatrical techniques will not work to explain a very serious and high falluting issue such as Federalism!"

Sotto's tweet came after Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson came out with a video where her co-host Drew Olivar did a dance while chanting, "I-pepe, i-pepe, i-dede, i-dede... ipederalismo!" and gesturing to his crotch and his chest.

Senator Aquilino Pimentel III had earlier expressed "disappointment" over Uson for her video.

Netizens had also slammed Uson and Olivar for the dance number.

Uson, who earlier said she would use social media to "simplify" and explain the merits of federalism to the Filipino public, responded to the backlash by saying that she did not spend any government money on her "online game show." —KBK, GMA News
