Trillanes shows CCTV video proving his house is under surveillance

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Tuesday said his house is being watched.

The senator, whose amnesty has been revoked by President Rodrigo Duterte, shared CCTV footage showing a vehicle going around his house.

In the video with a time stamp of Sept. 11, 2018, 9:28 p.m., a silver car could be seen passing by.

Trillanes, a former Navy officer, said this is just part of the surveillance being done on him and his family after the nullification of his amnesty, which he has already challenged before the Supreme Court.

“Hindi ito basta-bastang harassment lang, pananakot kasi they were not meant to be seen, kaso nabisto lang kaya ganun. Tinitignan nila kung paano sila papasok, kung paano nila maituloy kung ano man ang kanilang hangarin,” he said in a press conference.

Trillanes said as early as last week, there was a suspicious vehicle roaming near their house. He said they are now in the process of identifying the driver and the passengers and verifying the plate number of the vehicle as seen on the CCTV footage.

The opposition senator said the movement of the vehicle was suspicious as it did not leave an identification or license card when it entered the subdivision and sped off when people tried to flag it down.

“Hindi siya nagbigay ng identification, hindi niya binigay ‘yung lisensya niya. Dumaan siya sa lane na bumukas. At the same time nung pagbalik nakita ‘yung mukha at nung hinaharap siya, tinatanong siya nung nalingat yung nagtatanong na guwardiya kumaripas na ng takbo,” he said.

“So talagang ‘yung behavior niya highly suspicious and may hallmarks of a surveillance activity,” he added.

Trillanes further said that it was obvious that the vehicle has no official business in their subdivision.

“Apparently itong sasakyan na ito very suspicious yung kanyang behavior,” he said.

Asked if he already reported the incident to police, Trillanes answered in the negative and said he will discuss it first with his lawyers. “I’ll talk to my lawyers again about that,” he said.

He said they just implemented stricter security measures for his family whom he said is already prepared for the situation.

“It’s unfortunate pero kahit paano napaghandaan na nila ito sa kanilang buhay early on so they understand the nature of my job. Kasi pag binitawan ko ‘yung ganitong trabaho baka matuluyan nang magiba ‘yung ating bansa so ‘yun din ang kanilang kalalakihan later on,” he said. —KG/KBK, GMA News
