Jinggoy seeks Sandiganbayan nod to accompany mom in Singapore

Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada has filed an urgent motion with the Sandiganbayan that he be allowed to accompany his mother, former First Lady and Senator Loi Ejercito, to Singapore where she will undergo a medical examination.

Estrada informed the Fifth Division that he intends to be with his mother from October 1 to 8.

He said his mom will spend most of her time at the Singapore Brain-Spine Nerves Center at Mount Elizabeth Hospital to meet a neurosurgeon named Dr. Pillay.

“For her medical procedure at Singapore - accused-movant’s mother is requesting the honorable court that (she) be accompanied by accused-movant Jinggoy Estrada during the duration of examination on October 1 to 8 of this year,” Estrada said.

The former lawmaker attached a personal letter from Ejercito appealing for the approval of the Sandiganbayan.

The motion of Estrada also has a certification from their family physician, Dr. Regina Bagsic, who said Ejercito has been diagnosed with “severe compression deformity of the lumbar spine with vertebral body collapse.”

Estrada vowed his compliance with any conditions set by the Sandiganbayan in order for his travel to push through.

He is currently enjoying his provisional liberty after the Sandiganbayan allowed him to post bail worth P1.3 million in September 2017.

Estrada stands accused of plunder and 11 counts of graft for allegedly pocketing P183.79-million worth of kickbacks by allocating his pork barrel funds to fake non-government organizations owned by alleged scheme mastermind Janet Lim Napoles. — Joseph Tristan Roxas/RSJ, GMA News
