PHL Navy's BRP Tarlac arrives in Vladivostok for port visit

Philippine Navy vessel BRP Tarlac on Monday arrived in Vladivostok, Russia, for a port visit to the Russian Pacific Fleet.

Video footage of BRP Tarlac's arrival was posted on Facebook by Philippine Ambassador to Russia King Sorreta.

"We are very much excited in this historic event since this is the first time that a Philippine Navy commissioned vessel is able to visit Vladivostok," said Navy spokesperson Cmdr Jonathan Zata in a statement.

The ship has 440 personnel.

Zata had earlier said the port visit aims to strengthen cooperation and relationship with regional counterparts in addressing common maritime challenges.

BRP Tarlac will be in Vladisvostok until October 6, after which it will proceed to Jeju, South Korea, to take part in an International Fleet Review from October 10 to 15.  —KBK, GMA News
