Roque left behind again on Duterte’s whereabouts

Just days after presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced that he was considering vacating his post, he and another presidential staff member have given conflicting reports over the whereabouts of President Rodrigo Duterte.

In a message to reporters past 5 p.m. on Saturday, Roque said that the President was in Davao City.

"PRRD is now in Davao," he said.

However, this was contradicted by Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher "Bong" Go, who said that Duterte, along with his partner Honeylet Avanceña and their daughter Kitty, was in Hong Kong.

According to Go, the Duterte family flew to Hong Kong early Saturday morning and are scheduled to fly back to the Philippines late Sunday evening.

Roque, who on Friday said he was contemplating whether to resign from his post, has yet to release any clarification on the matter.

This comes after Roque denied that Duterte went to the hospital last Wednesday, only to be contradicted by the President himself on Thursday night, when he said in a speech that he had gone to Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City for a repeat procedure.

"[L]ike you, I was taken aback about the diagnostic examination. I did not lie to anyone because I simply did not know," Roque said at a news conference. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
