‘SPIT ON MY FACE’

Duterte again dares critics to check his bank accounts

President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday again swore that he had no hidden ill-gotten wealth, this time challenging critics to spit in his face if his bank accounts proved otherwise.

During a speech in Bacolod City, the president said he had only one income source, his salary of around P207,000, which was deposited at the Landbank.

"Mga iba diyan, milyon-milyon...Ako 'yan lang, ha? Halungkatin mo na lahat. 'Yan lang ang kinukuha ko talaga ang it’s deposited in the Landbank," said Duterte.

"I am telling you the truth and you can check. And kung meron kayong makita which is contrary to what I'm saying now, I’ll give you that right," he added.

"You can spit on my face. That is my guarantee. Bastusin mo na ako."

The chief executive had repeatedly been challenged by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to sign a bank waiver after the opposition lawmaker alleged that Duterte had more than a billion pesos in ill-gotten wealth. — Margaret Claire Layug/DVM, GMA News
