Palace welcomes Duterte's improving trust ratings

Malacañang on Sunday welcomed the results of the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showing that President Rodrigo Duterte got an improved net trust rating in the third quarter of 2018.

In a statement, presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo thanked the public for their continuous trust in the President.

"It has often been said that the first job of every good leader is to inspire trust as such is essential to produce positive results," he said.

"We therefore view the survey results... as a source of inspiration to continue delivering the President’s promise of genuine and meaningful change in the government and to the nation," he added.

In the SWS survey conducted from September 15 to 23, those who said they have much trust in Duterte were 74 percent of respondents. Fourteen percent remain undecided, and 12 percent said they have little trust in Duterte.

This gives a "very good" net trust rating of +62, five points higher than June's +57.

Despite the improving trust ratings, Panelo said there is no room for complacency in the executive branch of the government.

"We will persevere to undertake bolder reforms to make the bureaucracy more efficient and responsive to the needs of our people," he said.

"With the leadership of our President, as well as with your help and cooperation, we will thrive and push the nation forward amid whatever towering challenge we will face," he added. —KG, GMA News
