PHL Navy contingent back home from ASEAN-China maritime exercises

The 200-man contingent of the Philippine Navy that embarked last month to participate in the first ASEAN-China Maritime Exercise (ACMEX) in Zanjiang arrived home on Thursday.

According to a report on Balitanghali by Super Radyo dzBB's Mark Makalalad, BRP Dagupan (LS551) docked at the Commodre Divino pier on Roxas Boulevard at 8:30 a.m.

The ceremony welcoming the contingent home was led by Flag-Officer-In-Command Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad, along with Armed Forces of the Philippines Command Center (AFPCC) chief Brigadier General Ricardo Nepomuceno and Chinese Defense and Armed Forces Attaché (DAFA) Colonel Sheng Dazhi.

The ACMEX, held from October 21 to October 28, was an exercise hosted by the Royal Singapore Navy and the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy aimed to promote military exchanges and cooperation between ASEAN Member State navies and the China PLA.

The report quoted Empedrad as saying that the PN's engagement in the exercise was a big help to the nation's maritime capability. — Margaret Claire Layug/BM, GMA News
