Solons told to return No. 8 car plates after viral road rage incident


House Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr. reminded members of the House of Representatives on Wednesday to heed the memorandum from the Office of Secretary General recalling the protocol plate numbers "8" issued during the 16th Congress and earlier.

Andaya made the manifestation in plenary after the road altercation incident in Angeles City, Pampanga involving a FJ Cruiser bearing a protocol plate number 8.

"We have received reports that certain vehicles with protocol plate number 8 have been spotted in indecent places or figured in crime-related activities," he said reading the memorandum said.

"In view of this development, the honorable Speaker has given instructions for the immediate recall of all protocol plates issued during the 16th Congress and earlier," he added.

Members of the House were instructed to return the car plates to the Office of the Secretary General for proper acknowledgment.

The video footage of road rage incident in Pampanga has since went viral after it was spread on social media.

On Tuesday night, authorities arrested the suspect, identified as Jojo Valerio, at a bar in Tarlac City.

However, he did not say how he got hold of the car plate supposedly issued to the members of the House of Representatives. —LDF, GMA News
