Duterte to fire an undersecretary for corruption

President Rodrigo Duterte said Monday he is going to fire an undersecretary over corruption allegations.

Duterte, in a speech in Davao City, did not give a hint of the identity of the government official and the agency the official belongs to.

"Corruption is not acceptable to me. I need not repeat it every day. When I go to Manila, I am going back, I am going to fire another undersecretary for corruption," he said.

The President just recently fired lawyer Falconi Millar as secretary-general of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) for allegedly extorting money from an unidentified company in exchange for the payment of HUDCC's financial obligation.

Millar has since denied the allegation.

Duterte had also previously dismissed Budget Undersecretary Gertrudo "Ted" de Leon also for alleged corruption.

"There is corruption in government because the people are not assertive about it. You are just willing and dying for it," the President said.  — RSJ, GMA News
