Duterte shows up at business event following motorcycle fall

President Rodrigo Duterte showed up at his scheduled event on Thursday, a day after he got hurt while taking a motorcycle ride inside Malacañang Complex.

Duterte went to the Manila Hotel to attend the 45th Philippine Business Conference and Expo. The President is the keynote speaker for the event.

Malacañang and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, Duterte’s former top aide, earlier said that the 74-year-old leader figured in a motorcycle accident at the Presidential Security Group compound on Wednesday night.

“While it is true that the President roamed around with his motorcycle, the incident occurred when he has already parked his motorcycle at the compound of the Presidential Security Group,” Duterte’s spokesman Salvador Panelo said.

“The President was reaching for his shoe when he fell off his motorcycle that resulted in a minor injury, particularly light bruises and slight scratches, to his elbow and knee.”

Panelo assured the public that Duterte was fine and his recovery entailed no major medical procedure. —LDF, GMA News
