Parts of Manila, Quezon City to go waterless on Friday


MANILA, Philippines - Some areas of Manila and Quezon City will have no water for four hours and 30 minutes from 7:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2008, Maynilad Water Services Inc. (MWSI) announced. In a statement, Maynilad said that the service interruption is due to the replacement of four units of 250-mm gate valves at the pressure release valve in Algeciras Pumping Station, Algeciras corner España St., Manila. Areas which will have no water for four-and-a-half hours include those bounded by Dimasalang, Andalucia, España, Macaraig and Blumetritt in Sampaloc; the area bounded by España, Antipolo, Lepanto, Matimyas, Sto. Tomas and Josefina III in Sampaloc; the area bounded by Andalucia, Mayhaligue, Rizal Ave., North Cemetery down to Dimasalang in Sta. Cruz; the area bounded by España, Algeciras, Lepanto and Lacson; the area along Quiricada St. between Rizal Ave. and Yakal St., including lateral streets; and the area along Antipolo St. between Rizal Ave. and Ipil St., including lateral streets. In Quezon City, the area along España including the UDMC Hospital will be waterless during the said period. Meanwhile, ocations expected to experience low pressure to no water include the area bounded by Lepanto, Matimyas, Sto. Tomas, Fajardo, Lealtad and Antipolo in Manila, and the area bounded by Sto. Tomas, E. Rodriguez, Matimyas and Josefina III in Quezon City. The repair and maintenance work are part of Maynilad’s continuing program to upgrade and improve its service to customers in these areas.
