Pinay in UAE accuses Pakistani friend of setting her up for rape

A Filipina, who claimed to have been raped by a Pakistani driver in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in February this year, accused her friend, also a Pakistani, of setting her up for the crime. According to a report of the news site Khaleej Times, a 28-year-old Pakistani driver faced a UAE court on Wednesday last week for the rape of the 39-year-old Filipina.    The driver also allegedly took photos of the victim as she lay naked on the ground. The criminal laboratory report of the General Directorate of Criminal Evidence showed that the DNA of the semen sample lifted from the woman matched that of the defendant. The Filipina, who was separated from her husband, said her Pakistani friend, also a driver, may have set up the rape as he was the one who introduced her to the suspect. Court records showed that the Filipina asked her friend for financial assistance. The friend said he could not help her but knew someone who could. He then brought the Filipina to a company in the Al Quoz area. A separate report of the news site Gulf News said when the victim arrived at the company in Al Quoz, the suspect allegedly entered the room, then threatened to report her to the police for entering the premises without his permission.   He allegedly blackmailed the Filipina into giving him her bank card, then asked the accomplice to leave the room, which he locked. The Filipina said she was unable to ask for help because she became afraid then the suspect "threatened to file a complaint with the police accusing me of trespassing."    When the other Pakistani left the room, the accused reportedly stripped the woman and raped her. The suspect then allegedly took photos of the woman using his mobile phone. Meanwhile, the Filipina's friend — the suspected accomplice — alleged that the complainant called him that day and offered herself for paid sex. However, Khaleej Times report noted that the suspected accomplice gave contradictory statements to the prosecutor.   Gulf News, on the other hand, said the absence of wounds made it difficult to conclude whether the victim was raped or not. - VVP, GMA News
