'Lewd' Facebook photo jeopardizes Cebu student's graduation march

No thanks to a "lewd" photo posted on social networking site Facebook, a graduating high school student is in danger of missing her graduation march this Friday. The student's mother has lodged a lawsuit against the school for allegedly barring the girl from attending her graduation rites, radio dzBB's Cebu affiliate reported. According to the report, the decision of St. Theresa's College High School Department stemmed from Facebook photos showing the girl wearing a two-piece swimsuit and holding a cigarette and a container of liquor. Named defendants in the petition for injunction and damages were:

- Sr. Celeste Ma. Purisima, high school principal - Mussolini Yu, assistant principal - Marnie Racaza, student affairs moderator - Kristine Rose Ligot, discipline in-charge - Edith Yu, homeroom adviser
Also, the girl's mother asked the court to issue an order allowing her daughter to march in the graduation rites on Friday. For his part, Judge Wilfredo Navarro said the issue to be resolved is if the student, a minor, was given due process. A dzBB-Cebu reporter tried to seek for comments from St. Theresa's College but as of Wednesday morning, the school administration has yet to issue a statement on the  case. — LBG, GMA News
