3 nabbed in San Mateo for forcing man to dance at gunpoint

At least three toughies were arrested before dawn Thursday for allegedly forcing a man to dance by firing their guns at his feet in Rizal province.

Police recovered shells from a high-powered Uzi firearm at the site of the incident, radio dzBB's Paulo Santos reported Thursday.

The report said the incident occurred at Silangan village in San Mateo town in Rizal, when victim Sherwin Buena, 28, was on his way home from work.

Buena told police he was stopped by seven men, who forced him to dance the "cha-cha" by firing their guns at his feet. Buena was not hit during the incident.

He said the men used an Uzi firearm and a cal-.38 revolver.

A follow-up operation resulted in the arrest of three of the seven. They were initially identified as Rolando Cantor, Jesse Gumbag, and Arturo Luba.

The three may face charges of violating the Commission on Elections' gun ban, which started Jan. 13 and will last until June 12.

Under the gun ban, which aims to minimize election-related violence, only law enforcers in uniform and on duty can carry firearms outside their residences.

As a general rule, permits to carry firearms outside residences are suspended while the gun ban is in effect.

A separate dzBB report said there have been more than 1,000 violators of the gun ban who had been arrested. —KG, GMA News
