Malaria cases found in Antipolo's mountainous areas

Most of the 600-plus malaria cases recorded in Antipolo City from January to June this year have been from mountainous areas there. Radio dzRH reported Monday afternoon that this was the pattern recorded by the Antipolo Health Center, though no deaths from these areas had been recorded. It said the health center's records showed most of the 600-plus cases were from five "remote and mountainous" villages in Antipolo City. These included San Luis, San Roque, San Jose, San Juan and Calauis villages. Calauis, described as the most remote area of the five villages, has about 2,510 residents. San Jose has 55,136; San Luis has 37,667; San Roque has 36,431; and San Juan has 5,583. Most of the patients are children and elderly residents, the dzRH report said. - GMANews.TV
