P1-M bounty for Abu Sayyaf’s Alhabsy Misaya given to tipster

The military has awarded the P1 million reward money to the informant who provided information that led to the killing of Abu Sayyaf Group sub-leader Alhabsy Misaya.

Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) officials gave the money to the man who helped government troops track and kill Misaya, a bomb expert and responsible for "many celebrated kidnapping cases" and bombings," in Indanan, Sulu last April 29.

The people of Sulu raised the money for the informant, who was not identified for his personal security.

Wesmincom chief Lt. Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr. thanked the informant and urged the public to emulate the man in helping the government neutralize the Abu Sayyaf Group.

Joint Task Force Sulu commander Brig. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, for his part, said the help from the Sulu residents proves that they also want to stop the atrocities of the terror group.

The Armed Forces had said Misaya's death would eventually lead to the demise of the bandit group ahead of the President Rodrigo Duterte's six-month deadline. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/LBG, GMA News
