Kin of Bulacan massacre victims says crime is unforgivable

A relative of the fatalities in the Tuesday massacre of a family in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan said the crime is unforgivable.

According to a report on Unang Balita on Friday by Victoria Tulad, Glory Dizon, eldest child of victim Auring Dizon, said she can never forgive the persons who stabbed to death her mother, her sister Estrella, her nephews Donnie and Dexter Jr., and niece Ella.

Glory arrived Thursday night in San Jose del Monte from Davao.

She said she could not put in words the pain she is undergoing after the tragedy.

The five fatalities were found dead on Tuesday morning when Estrella's husband, Dexter Carlos, arrived at their home in barangay Sto. Cristo from night duty as a security guard. They were all stabbed numerous times, with two of the victims showing signs of rape.

Twenty-six-year-old Carmelino Ibañes on Thursday confessed to the crime.

He said he was under the influence of alcohol and shabu at the crime.

He said two other people were involved in the crime: a certain Inggo and a certain Tony.

Ibañes asked forgiveness from the relatives of the victims.

Carlos said he was prepared to forgive him if he would name all of his accomplices.

However, Glory said she could not accept the suspect's apology, and added that the suspect deserved the death penalty.

Estrella and her family were loving and kind, said Glory.

She added that they were supposed to have a reunion in Davao this December.

Glory appealed to the other people behind the crime to surrender to authorities.

Ongoing probe

Police meanwhile said they are continuing with their investigation even if Ibañes is already under their custody and has partially identified two other alleged accomplices.

They said alias Inggo and alias Tony can not as yet be treated as suspects.

P/Supt. Fitz Macariola, chief of police of San Jose Del Monte, said they cannot just take Ibañes' statement as gospel truth. They still need to verify his statement since he could have said what he said to lead police off the trail.

Macariola also said Ibañes may not have been in the right state of mind when he gave his statement to police.

For now they are  pursuing other leads in the case. —KG/KVD, GMA News
