American arrested after cursing at Davao City councilor

An American was arrested in Davao City after throwing expletives at a city councilor inside a mall on Sunday.

A radio dzBB report by Arnel Cortez, the American national was identified as Gary Joseph Maraviglia.

The American allegedly cursed at Davao City 2nd District Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre inside a mall.

The report said that Maraviglia was accusing Alejandre of taking a picture of his credit card and that the councilor might use it in an illegal activity.

The American also allegedly challenged Alejandre to a fist fight.

The report added that in the complaint filed by Alejandre before the police, Maraviglia bragged that he could not be arrested because he is a US citizen.

Alejandre is chairman of the city government's international relations and tourism committees. —ALG, GMA News
