Traffic enforcer, cops return wallet with P40,000 to foreigner

Two policemen and a traffic enforcer in Guiguinto, Bulacan have returned a wallet they found to its Norwegian owner, a television report said Thursday.

The honest lawmen - identified as Police Officer 1 (PO1) Ronald Hernadez, PO1 Muhaimin Abdula, and traffic enforcer Niel Isla - returned the wallet with P40,000 in cash and some foreign currency to its owner, A foreign student.

Norwegian student Ron Christian Eliassen, who is studying in the Philippines, accidentally dropped his wallet on his way to Manila to buy some medicines, according to the report.

Eliassen, a resident of Barangay Poblacion of Guiguinto town, said that he went straight home after discovering his wallet was missing to plan his next move.

Upon getting there, however, Eliassen was met by the two policemen and traffic enforcer who came to return the missing wallet.

They told Eliassen that they saw him drop the wallet as he boarding a passenger jeepney, and that they tried to call his attention but the jeepney had sped away before they could retrieve the wallet and hand it to him.

For their good deed, the local government of Bulacan, as well as the Philippine National Police, is set to recognize the three for their honesty. —Akari Nakano/LBG/KVD, GMA News
